Officially Licensed USMC VMO-2 Grasshopper Squadron Patch

Officially Licensed USMC VMO-2 Grasshopper Squadron Patch — Marine Observation Squadron 2 WWII/Korea Legacy Embroidered Patch

The Grasshopper — VMO-2's earliest identity from the light liaison aircraft era.

VMO-2's "Grasshopper" patch hearkens back to the squadron's origins in World War II and Korea, when Marine observation squadrons flew small, light liaison aircraft — nicknamed "Grasshoppers" for their ability to land and take off from tiny, unprepared strips. These diminutive aircraft were the original eyes of the Marine division, flying low and slow over enemy lines to direct artillery fire and report troop movements. The Grasshopper pilots were among the bravest in Marine aviation, flying unarmed or lightly armed aircraft into hostile airspace at vulnerable speeds.

Perfect For:
VMO-2 veterans, WWII and Korean War Marine observation aviators, Grasshopper liaison aircraft enthusiasts, early Marine aviation heritage collectors, and USMC legacy squadron patch enthusiasts.

Grasshopper. VMO-2. Low and slow since day one.
