The beautiful fronds of Japanese Lace Fern emerge yellowish-green with slender golden scales and an erect habit before turning a darker glossy green and spreading as they mature. This evergreen fern enjoys a shady spot. It can also be grown in pots. Team it with other shade lovers, such as hostas. Cut back any dead fronds in winter to encourage new ones to appear.
