If you've always wanted a flowering cherry but don't have room for a wide-spreading tree, 'Amanogawa' is a lovely choice. Its tall, narrow fastigiate habit gives you plenty of height and impact without taking over the garden, with upright branches growing from low down on the tree to create a slender column of blossom and foliage.

In late spring, those branches become covered in softly scented, pale pink semi-double flowers. The young leaves emerge with bronze tones before turning green for summer, giving the blossom an attractive backdrop.

There's another show to come in autumn, when the foliage turns rich shades of orange and red before falling. Fully hardy and awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit, 'Amanogawa' is a beautiful way to bring spring blossom, height and autumn colour to a smaller garden.

How your tree is supplied:

Supplied as a bare-root tree, grafted onto Colt rootstock. 'Amanogawa' is grafted at ground level, so the upright branches start low down rather than growing from a clear stem. This low-branched form develops into the tree's naturally slender, fastigiate shape.
