Long, Tasty Pods from an Early Crop
- Excellent cold tolerance
- Good tolerance to soil-borne diseases
- Exceptionally early crops from autumn planting
- Long, high-quality pods
- Sweet, succulent beans
'Luz de Otono' is a broad bean with something a little different to offer. Originally bred for its unusual ability to produce an autumn crop from a summer sowing, it's also excellent for overwintering, giving autumn-planted plants a head start towards an early harvest the following year.
Strong, vigorous plants show excellent cold tolerance and produce generous crops of long, high-quality pods, typically containing five to seven beans. Picked young, the beans are sweet, succulent and tender – just what you want from the first broad bean harvests of the season.
Growing to around 90cm–1m tall, 'Luz de Otono' is well suited to vegetable gardens, raised beds and allotments. Give plants a sunny position, support them as they grow and you'll be rewarded with plenty of fresh homegrown beans from late spring into early summer.
